Have you wasted time and money searching for the best TV system in Cyprus ?

Have you tried other suppliers and bought TV systems that don't work properly ? Are you paying a monthly fee for UK TV ? Are you worried that your supplier is an illegal TV Pirate ?

Many people have spent a lot of money trying to find the best TV system in Cyprus. Purchasers of TV systems have relied upon the accuracy of the information on suppliers' web sites and the authenticity of information that appears on many Cyprus Forums, but is this information truthful, accurate and authentic ?

Suppliers don't often tell the 'whole' story when they are marketing their TV systems instead, choosing to rely upon plenty of small print that they know their customers don't even bother to read.

With assumed identities, anyone can post messages of recommendation on any of the forums where the British Expatriate Community look for product and service recommendations. Some suppliers have even started their own forums or, exercise strict control over their 'friends' forums to make sure that their customers do not post derogatory remarks about their products or, the level of service that they have received. They actively moderate their competitors off the forums and stop their customers from posting complimentary messages of support.

It's widely accepted that the best form of advertising is customer recommendation. This is a web page where our existing customers can publish pictures of the work that we have done for them and post their messages of support. They may tell you about the type of TV system that we supplied and installed for them and whether they were satisfied with the service that they received and the product that they purchased.

Of course, the title of this page is a little misleading and should read, Best free TV system in Cyprus - why ? Well, because we supply subscription TV systems that have a better quality HD picture and more (60+) channels but they are not 'free' - there is an annual subscription to pay. This is a dedicated UK TV box that delivers the majority of the UK free to air TV channels without using a computer or a satellite dish and even better, without paying a monthly or annual fee for the privilege.

As newcomers to Cyprus last year, the internet and Premier League coverage (for me) were a must!

It was quite confusing at first. The various blogs and message boards seemed hell bent on rubbishing everyone. However, we settled on Satellite Cyprus as they seemed to be the most positive amongst the various pieces we read and they got some very supportive write ups.

After a couple of e mails with Gwyn we agreed on what we wanted. We followed her advice on starting with wireless internet.

Paul turned up at the appointed time and did a thorough survey of the situation before setting to work, installing dishes and cables with the minimum of fuss and mess. He used existing conduits and channels wherever he could, despite the 'unusual' configuration the builders had left ! The end result was a great TV service and internet connection.

This year we needed to pay a new year's subscription for the football and we also wanted to talk about internet. Eventually, we settled on keeping the existing connection as the providers responded positively when we had a problem with water ingress into a cable, getting here promptly and replacing it.

We did want to try a faster connection as we only had 1Mb. Gwyn suggested that we try 2Mb. We really wanted 4Mb but followed her advice to see what it would be like. Speed was up and down at first but has settled down at around 1.9Mb. Plenty enough for "Strictly" !!!

Payments have been easy to work round too in fact, the whole experience has been positive. Gwyn, Paul and Dan have been great and are very approachable, easy to work with, objective in their advice and very, very responsive.

The work Paul and Dan carried out was done with real care, minimising mess and disruption and ensuring we had what we had ordered before they left.

Any problems we have had have been picked up very quickly and a solution found. They also have been great at forward planning as eventually, we will probably go for 4Mb.

All in all a great service at a competitive price and I would be happy to speak directly with anyone else who is looking for Internet and TV providers.

The TV Box is working fine, best thing since "sliced bread" & excellent value for money, with the added bonus of your after sales service. It is nice to be able to watch UK TV & the abilty to record programmes is a big plus.

Roy first contacted me at the end of November and informed me that Cytanet were about to install cable to their cul-de-sac of houses and that they were signing up and hoping to have 6 Mb internet connections up and running in December. He asked me whether I thought this would be fast enough to run our UK TV system - "Of course it is !" I told Roy (it only needs 2Mbps) and we exchanged a few emails to confirm everything.

In the meantime, Roy had spoken to his neighbours about our UK TV system and it turns out that 3 of them wanted to buy it from us.

Roy and I stayed in touch over the next few weeks. He kept me informed regards the progress of the cable installation.

Week ending 16th December, Roy telephoned me and informed me that the cable had been installed and that they were waiting for the connection to be configured at the exchange. It took a few days longer, but eventually, they were connected up and the internet was working.

Roy asked whether we would be able to deliver before Christmas. I told him that we would do our best, but that our order book was crammed. Roy remained patient during the next few days although we did exchange a couple of calls and I could tell that they were eagerly anticipating receiving their new TV system in time to watch all the good Christmas programmes from the UK.

Unbeknown to Roy, during week ending 23rd December, we were working late (everyday) to try and create some time for Roy, Gloria and Dolly.
Roy telephoned me early on Thursday morning and I told him that we were trying to catch up and get in front. Roy telephoned again on Friday and I answered the phone with - "we're coming today !" Roy's reply - "absolutely brilliant!"

I have just added the UK TV system to my ADMC and OSN systems from Arriva. As usual, the job was carried out with minimum fuss.

Must say, impressed with system and the picture quality. Upgraded my internet to 4Mb - handled by Paul, 1 phone call, 5 mins. Watched UK TV without problems, buffered once or twice which you can expect on a wireless internet connection, but for the money, worth every penny !

Everything as explained and described - as usual. It's nice to deal with people that deliver what they promise - repeatedly. Not sure about uploading a picture. I'll leave that to the experts.

I've been reading all your great comments from your satisfied customers regarding the supply of various systems for watching UK TV here in Cyprus.

My wife and I are only really interested in watching the main UK channels together with either the catch up sites or the ability to record programmes to watch at a later date. We have Internet @ 8Mbps from Cyta and we have an out of date Sky cable coming into the house already. We are running a brand new LG smart TV.

Can you please advise on what you would recommend as the most cost affective method to obtain the requests above.

Thank you for making an enquiry with us. We can quite fulfil your requirements with our set top box for UK TV. It comes pre-configured to watch all the main UK free to air TV channels - BBC 1, 2, 3, 4, ITV 1, 2, 3, 4, CH4, E4, More 4, CH5, Dave, Pick TV, Yesterday etc.

Just connect the set top box to the TV with the supplied HDMI cable, connect to the internet using the supplied ethernet cable and plug into the mains power supply. Switch on and wait for the channel menu to load before choosing a channel. There is a programme guide for each channel and you can pause and restart live TV.

Watching live TV requires a minimum of 2 Mbps so 8 Mbps internet connection is easily enough.

There is nothing else to pay apart from the cost of purchase of £119 plus shipping - no monthly or annual subscription.

We dispatch goods as soon as we receive payment. We provide a picture of the goods being dispatched so that you know that they are on the way to you. Full instructions are supplied in English, but it is easy to connect to your TV etc. and 7 day telephone and email support is available.

Hi,

We are interested in the internet TV set top box. We have a Primetel 8mb connection which runs about 6 or 7mb download. BTW we have found Primetel most reliable.

Please can you re-assure us that no VPN is required for this box.

Currently we watch filmon.com without a VPN or iplayers BBC, ITV, CH4, 5 with a VPN for progams we have missed (ipad or iphone on safari with apple tv device)

We are looking for a simpler solution for guests who may want to watch TV when we are not here.

Can you deliver to Paphos via Akis Express and I will pick up the box from the Akis office.

No VPN is required to use our set top box for Live UK TV. It is simple to use and operates with a remote control. You can also access catchup services (BBC iPlayer) but you need a VPN to do this as you have to appear to be in the UK.

The internet connection that you have is more than sufficient.

Local deliveries are handled by Travel Express and normally, goods are dispatched next day.

Our set top box comes fully configured and ready to go with full instructions in English. It is a plug and play device.

There has not yet been a customer who could not attach the box to their TV, the internet and power source - once you have done this, just switch it on and the channel list loads automatically. Just select a channel and away you go ! It really is that simple.

Hi, interested in your box as a friend has had one from you. Can you tell me how much postage is ? What is the average time for delivery (to Paphos) ? Is it really easy to set up ? She says she hasn't got her head round doing the tv programmes and movies on demand (I think that's what she said). Do you pay to a UK bank or Cyprus ? You say that 2 Mbps is enough for it to run on - does it buffer much with this speed ?

Thank you for making the enquiry.

There are various postage options available, but delivery can be made the same day (on orders that we receive before 10am or next day - except at weekends).

Apart from connecting the HDMI cable to the TV, the ethernet cable to the internet and the power cable, there is no setting up to do - it is automatic - just switch on and wait for the channel list to load before choosing a channel.

There are various options for payment which are included in the Pro-Forma Invoice that you receive when you order.

UK TV only requires 1.2Mbps to run so yes, a good 2Mbps internet connection is OK.

We have our main TV in the sitting room with a modem supplied by Cablenet at the back of it. However, our computer is in a bedroom/playroom towards the back of the house. Would there be any problems connecting your box ? Would purchasing your box involve any sort of dish ?

Thank you for making an enquiry. No, our set top box for UK TV doesn't need a dish and your set up sounds ideal for it. You just simply sit the box under your TV and plug in an ethernet cable to your modem. There is just the HDMI cable to plug into the TV, power up and that's it.

Hi William,

The operating system accepts a VPN and using one is easy. Simply enter your VPN configuration into the "Settings" section of the operating system once and that's it - instructions (in English) are provided.

Then, simply switch the VPN connection on and off (depending whether or not you want to appear to be in the UK)

Our Set Top Box also comes with BBC iPlayer installed which (due to the BBC's geographical restrictions) is used with a VPN, but don't forget, our set top box also comes installed with TV Programmes and Movies on Demand - there is no extra charge to watch Movies (choose from a thousand or more) and all the top TV shows from the UK and USA - all on Demand !

Yes, our set top box can also connect to RCA (Red, Yellow and White)

Please check your TV to make sure that it has Red and White (Audio) and Yellow (Video) inputs - almost all TVs do.

After using ( and paying for ) 2 TV boxes with disappointing results, we now find that
we have lost faith in any system on the Cyprus market. We have stellar wi fi but find with the present ( Zoomtac) and previous TV boxes, that at the busiest times of the week ( and there are many in the Paphos area) we get 'kicked out' especially from 6pm - 8pm on a daily basis.
Calling up and watching a movie is hopeless. Obviously, the problem is " too many viewers on line" and we are "Buffered to death" Sorry about the preamble but my question is What are you selling and how good will it be in the Paphos area. We simply wish to watch tv without being unceremoniously throw out. Thank you Ray
